Running Physical Therapy in Winston-Salem, NC

Stop the Cycle of Rest, Recover, and Repeat

Runners come to us when knee pain, IT band issues, or achilles pain keeps cutting training short. We find the root cause and get you back running, one-on-one, every session.

Most Running Injuries Come Back Because the Root Cause Never Gets Addressed

You Modify Your Runs, Then Stop Running Altogether

Rest helps for a few days, but the pain comes right back as soon as you ramp up mileage. Without understanding what's driving it, you're stuck in the same cycle every training block.

Your Race Calendar Keeps Getting Derailed by the Same Issues

You train through it, back off when it flares, and never feel confident your body will hold up through a full training block.

Generic PT Gives You Band Exercises and No Real Running Plan

Most PT clinics don't specialize in runners. You get a generic protocol, not a plan built around your mileage, race goals, and the mechanics actually driving your injury.

Why Runners Choose Kinetic PR for Running Rehab

Runners come to KPR when recurring issues keep getting in the way of training, and keep coming back because the approach actually works.

If you are an athlete - if you have a nagging injury - if you value health and movement and longevity - if you want to avoid surgery and work on fixing your body through movement - YOU'VE FOUND THE RIGHT PLACE IN KPR!

I can't express how grateful I am as an athlete that I came to Levi and KPR. I experienced severe pain in my right knee for three months. I was unable to squat below 90 degrees without significant pain on the lateral side of my right knee. *I thought* my issue was a tight IT Band due to old running shoes. After doing IT Band stretches, foam rolling, avoiding running and squatting for 1.5 months with no relief, I felt defeated and the thought of "my best athletic days are behind me" and, "its all down hill from here" started to creep in to my mind.
Luckily Levi heard me ranting about my knee pain and the months of limitations I had experienced.
He listened to me, and after my complaining, asked if i would commit to a few PT sessions to rid myself of the knee pain.
We did one session a week for three weeks straight.
Upon the first session/evaluation, Levi immediately found out that the IT Band wasn't the issue, but instead a muscular imbalance and a right glute that wasn't firing properly. Not only that, but we also found that my hip mobility was STRUGGLING. He gave me a small list of strengthening exercises and hip stretches to do daily in between our sessions and put the ball in my court as to how diligent I would be in applying these new exercises into my routine. Levi also did a great job at setting expectations for the weeks to come. He was up front that there was no quick fix, but instead it would take weeks and that staying diligent with the exercises would lead me to the results i wanted.

*3 weeks later*

At the beginning of my time with KPR, I couldn't do an air squat without pain so severe that i would break into sweat.
After three weeks of strengthening exercises Levi gave me to do as well as three sessions under his watchful eye, last week, i was back underneath 300+ back squats with ZERO PAIN. Not only that, but my hips and legs haven't felt this good, this strong, this athletic in years.

I cant give enough praise to Levi and his craft! I would 10/10 recommend anyone who wanted to invest in their athletic ability to see him and trust him with keeping their body finely tuned, healthy, and athletic!

Thank you Levi! Thank you KPR!

I started doing PT with Lauren due to some pain I’d been having in my shoulder and neck area. Lauren helped to address the initial injury, get me out of pain, and on the way to strengthening those areas so that it doesn’t happen again. I’d been having this pain sporadically for years and in roughly six weeks it is a night and day difference. Lauren also noticed that I had some mobility issues with my hips when squatting and in just a few sessions I’ve seen some some dramatic increase in range of motion and I no longer feel the pinching sensation when I’m in the bottom of a squat. I could not recommend KPR and Lauren enough if you are looking to get pain free and stay active.

I went to Kinetic with low back pain that was affecting my endurance and lifting work. After isolating the problems, Levi worked with me on mobility, stretching techniques, and activation. I did a total of 3 sessions over the course of about a month. Each session built on the prior one, and there were things easily adaptable for home use to aid in my recovery. It’s been about 2 months since my first session now and I’m back to doing lifting movements fluidly I hadn’t been able to do for 6 months. I’ve been able to build on mobility and activation, and continue to see improvements with no further pain and decreasing restrictions of movement. If you’re an athlete struggling with pain, mobility restriction, or a chronic or acute injury I’d highly recommend Levi at Kinetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about running physical therapy and return-to-running care at KPR.

Do I need to stop running during treatment?

Not necessarily. We adjust your training load so you can keep running where possible while we address the root cause. Most runners continue training throughout their care, they just do it more intentionally, with smarter loads and better mechanics guiding each session.

How long does running physical therapy usually take?

It depends on the injury, how long it's been going on, and your training goals. After your first session, we'll give you a realistic timeline and adjust it as you respond to treatment. Most runners see meaningful progress within the first few weeks of working on mechanics and loading.

Do you work with both competitive and recreational runners?

Yes. We see marathoners, half marathon runners, trail athletes, and people who run a few days a week for fitness. The approach is the same: find the root cause, fix the mechanics, and build you back to the mileage you want to run.

What does a running gait analysis involve?

We use video-based gait analysis to assess your running mechanics under load. It helps us identify the movement patterns contributing to your injury so we can target them directly rather than treating symptoms in isolation. Most evaluations include a baseline gait screen as part of the initial assessment.

Does insurance cover running physical therapy at KPR?

We are in-network with Aetna, and HSA and FSA payments are accepted for all visits. For patients not on Aetna, we offer transparent cash-pay rates so you know exactly what you're paying. We can also provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
