Manual Therapy in Winston-Salem, NC

Restore mobility and reduce restrictions so you can train without limitations

Dry needling, spinal manipulation, and soft tissue techniques delivered by performance-focused orthopedic specialists who integrate hands-on work with your training plan.

When manual therapy alone isn't enough to keep you training

You get temporary relief but no lasting change

Massage or adjustments feel good in the moment, but the tightness or restriction keeps coming back because nothing addresses the underlying issue.

You're always chasing the next treatment

You're stuck in a cycle of appointments just to feel okay, without a plan to build the strength and capacity you actually need to train consistently.

No one connects the manual work to your sport

Providers who don't understand your training can't tailor their techniques to help you get back to squatting, running, or overhead work with confidence.

I went to see Levi looking for relief from my dizziness due to my BPPV. I was quite nervous because the treatment requires making you dizzy! Levi was patient and understanding and talked me through the treatment. There was immediate relief! He took time and answered all my questions afterward. I highly recommend him to anyone in need!

From the times of Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates. All the way through the times of Descartes, Kant, Voltaire, and Hume. Mankind’s greatest minds have tirelessly pondered one question. What is our purpose? Why are we here?

I too had spent many lonesome sleepless nights staring at a motionless fan beset underneath a dark ceiling asking myself the same question, “Why am I here? What worthwhile purpose could my small insignificant life possibly have?”. I found my answer to that question in June of 2016. I was a naive 1st year PT student at Marshall University walking into my first day of anatomy dissection lab. At the time Levi was a 3rd year student and was a teaching assistant for the 1st year anatomy class. When my eyes first fell upon his physical figure I could not believe what they were seeing. I rubbed them once, he was still there. I rubbed them a second time, he was still there, my eyes did not deceive me. I was too nervous to speak to him so I asked my best friend Tim to ask Levi what his max bench was. When Tim reported back to me that it was over 3 plates I fainted and blamed it on the scent of formaldehyde.

After getting to know Levi more I came to realize that his physical supremacy was in fact not even his greatest asset. For it as impressive as it was, it paled in comparison to his mind. The sheer grit, determination, and resilience he demonstrated as a leader and mentor was awe-inspiring. And over the course of our relationship my questioning of my existence was answered. For I knew if I could be half the man, scholar, leader, and friend that Levi was, then my life will have had meaning when all is said and done. Levi does not just a physical therapist for bodily ailments, he is a therapist of the soul. I fully endorse and would entrust Levi with every ounce of my being and with the highest degree of respect and admiration to provide the highest quality of care to any and all who are lucky enough to cross his path.

Dr. Lauren has been treating my lower back and both knees for about two months now. I’ve always had trouble with my lower back but a slip in the rain injured both my knees. I work out at F45 and I was unable to do lunges, squats or box step ups without pain. She had me come do dry needling along with targeted exercises each week. She helped me learn, proper form for lunges and squats, and I have finally been able to do box step ups with a little bit of assistance from a bar. I’m very proud of my progress and thrilled with my results. I had no idea that working on proper form would help my workout results so much. Dr. Lauren is very patient and listens to your concerns. She’s very creative with her exercises and consistent with her programs she recommends. I highly recommend you give this a try.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about manual therapy and dry needling at KPR.

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people describe it as a quick pinch or muscle twitch. The sensation is brief, and many athletes notice immediate improvement in mobility or reduction in local tightness within 48 hours.

How is this different from massage or chiropractic care?

We use manual techniques as part of a performance-focused rehab plan, not as standalone treatments. You'll also get corrective exercises and programming so the benefits last beyond the session.

Will I need manual therapy for every visit?

Not necessarily. We use it when it makes sense for your goals and current restrictions. Some people benefit from it early on, while others focus more on active rehab and loading progressions.

Can manual therapy fix my issue on its own?

Manual work helps reduce pain and improve mobility, but it's most effective when paired with strength training and corrective exercises that address the root cause and build capacity to prevent recurrence.

Is manual therapy covered if I'm using Aetna?

If you're in-network with Aetna, manual therapy techniques like dry needling and manipulation are typically covered as part of your physical therapy visits. We'll clarify coverage during your evaluation.
