Manual Therapy in Winston-Salem, NC

Restore mobility and reduce restrictions so you can train without limitations

Dry needling, spinal manipulation, and soft tissue techniques delivered by performance-focused orthopedic specialists who integrate hands-on work with your training plan.

When manual therapy alone isn't enough to keep you training

You get temporary relief but no lasting change

Massage or adjustments feel good in the moment, but the tightness or restriction keeps coming back because nothing addresses the underlying issue.

You're always chasing the next treatment

You're stuck in a cycle of appointments just to feel okay, without a plan to build the strength and capacity you actually need to train consistently.

No one connects the manual work to your sport

Providers who don't understand your training can't tailor their techniques to help you get back to squatting, running, or overhead work with confidence.

How manual therapy supports athlete performance

When integrated with active rehab, manual techniques help athletes train more consistently and with better movement quality.

I started doing PT with Lauren due to some pain I’d been having in my shoulder and neck area. Lauren helped to address the initial injury, get me out of pain, and on the way to strengthening those areas so that it doesn’t happen again. I’d been having this pain sporadically for years and in roughly six weeks it is a night and day difference. Lauren also noticed that I had some mobility issues with my hips when squatting and in just a few sessions I’ve seen some some dramatic increase in range of motion and I no longer feel the pinching sensation when I’m in the bottom of a squat. I could not recommend KPR and Lauren enough if you are looking to get pain free and stay active.

I experienced some pretty intense shoulder pain that impacted my ability to perform pretty basic day to day movements. After a quick phone consult with Levi, we set a date for an initial in-person consult and got to work! Six sessions later I’m back to normal, pain free movement. Bonus- we spent time working on some underlying issues that have been holding me back from meeting my fitness goals.

I couldn’t recommend KPR strongly enough. Levi was kind, patient, thorough. He took time to understand my goals and linked our action plan directly to meeting them. Great facility, great people, look forward to popping back in for some check-up sessions!

I recently had the privilege of working with Levi at KPR for a shoulder injury from lifting weights. From the moment I stepped into the clinic, I knew I was in capable hands. Levi possesses an impressive depth of knowledge in physical therapy. He took the time to thoroughly understand my condition and tailored a personalized treatment plan that addressed my specific needs.
After a few months, thanks to Levi's guidance, I’ve experienced significant improvements in my shoulders mobility, pain relief, and overall well-being. He put together a plan that was transparent, and he was very straight forward about what it would take to improve my condition. 4 months after we started....we ended up exactly where he said we would.
Levi's dedication, expertise, and genuine approach make him an invaluable asset to anyone seeking quality care. I wholeheartedly recommend Levi & KPR to anyone in need of exceptional physical therapy services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about manual therapy and dry needling at KPR.

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people describe it as a quick pinch or muscle twitch. The sensation is brief, and many athletes notice immediate improvement in mobility or reduction in local tightness within 48 hours.

How is this different from massage or chiropractic care?

We use manual techniques as part of a performance-focused rehab plan, not as standalone treatments. You'll also get corrective exercises and programming so the benefits last beyond the session.

Will I need manual therapy for every visit?

Not necessarily. We use it when it makes sense for your goals and current restrictions. Some people benefit from it early on, while others focus more on active rehab and loading progressions.

Can manual therapy fix my issue on its own?

Manual work helps reduce pain and improve mobility, but it's most effective when paired with strength training and corrective exercises that address the root cause and build capacity to prevent recurrence.

Is manual therapy covered if I'm using Aetna?

If you're in-network with Aetna, manual therapy techniques like dry needling and manipulation are typically covered as part of your physical therapy visits. We'll clarify coverage during your evaluation.
