Running Gait Analysis in Winston-Salem, NC

See How You Move. Fix What's Breaking You.

Runners come to us for gait analysis when injuries keep recurring or performance has stalled. We use video analysis to find the movement patterns driving the problem — one-on-one, every session.

Most Running Problems Come Back Because No One Looked at How You Run

You Rest, Recover, and Hit the Same Wall Again

Without understanding your mechanics, every return to training risks the same breakdown. Symptoms get addressed, but the pattern producing them keeps going.

Your Form Fixes Don't Map to Your Injury

Online cues, YouTube corrections, and shoe changes address what you can see — not the underlying mechanics making every training block a gamble.

Generic PT Doesn't Account for How You Move

Most clinics skip the gait screen. You get rehab built around your diagnosis, not the specific movement patterns actually producing the injury.

Common Conditions We Treat

Running Issues That Bring Athletes to KPR for Gait Analysis

Runners come to us for gait analysis when pain keeps recurring despite past care, when form feels inefficient, or when they want a data-driven picture before building toward a race.

IT Band and Lateral Knee Pain that keeps returning despite rest, stretching, and previous treatment

Runner's Knee and Patellofemoral Pain that limits training volume and flares with downhill running or mileage buildups

Achilles Tendinopathy and Calf Issues that limit speed work and flare with any meaningful increase in volume or intensity

Hip Pain and Stride Asymmetry that affects gait efficiency and makes high-mileage weeks hard to sustain without compensating

Plantar Fasciitis and Foot Pain that makes first steps uncomfortable and long runs unpredictable

Overstride Patterns and High Impact Loading that increase injury risk without always producing obvious pain signals

Post-Injury Return to Running for athletes who want an objective baseline before ramping mileage back up after time off

Why Runners Choose KPR for Gait Analysis and Running Rehab

Runners come to KPR for gait analysis when recurring injuries keep disrupting training — and keep coming back because seeing the mechanics change everything.

Levi is the best PT I have ever been to. Besides being extremely knowledgable, he really understands the body from an exercise/performance mindset. I had bicep tendonitis and through dry needling, body work and easy to do exercises to do at home I was pain free in a minimal amount time. Highly recommended.

I came to Kinetic Performance with intense lower back and hip pain. Levi worked with me to determine what was causing the issues and designed a program to build the muscles that needed strengthening. My results are nothing short of life changing. My pain is virtually gone, and my exercise program is simple and easy to complete even while traveling. If you're suffering from chronic muscle pain, do yourself a favor and go see Levi!!

Levi is a very knowledgeable PT. Came to him with hip/knee pain from years of military service and hard physical demands of competitive CrossFit. With consistent effort on his and my end I am back to full functionality. I’ve tried various forms of treatments for pain relief. PT work with Levi is the only thing I found that wasn’t a band-aid, but an actual fix for my problems. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about running gait analysis, what it involves, and what to expect at KPR.

What does a running gait analysis involve?

We use video-based analysis to assess your running mechanics across the full gait cycle — foot strike, hip drop, cadence, arm swing, and stride symmetry. Each finding connects directly to your treatment and return-to-run plan, not just a standalone correction.

Do I need to be injured to get a gait analysis?

No. Runners come to us for gait analysis when they're dealing with recurring pain and when they want to identify patterns that raise injury risk before they become a problem. The process is the same either way, and the findings connect to a clear plan regardless of where you're starting.

Can a gait analysis help improve my running performance?

Yes. Many runners use gait analysis to identify inefficiencies that slow pace and increase fatigue over distance — not just to address injury. If you're building toward a race or increasing volume, a clear picture of your mechanics gives you a meaningful edge.

Do I need to stop running while working on gait mechanics?

Not necessarily. We adjust your training load so you can keep running while we address the mechanics in question. Most runners continue training throughout their care — they just do it with smarter loading and clearer cues to avoid reinforcing the patterns we're actively changing.

Does insurance cover running gait analysis at KPR?

We are in-network with Aetna, and HSA and FSA payments are accepted for all visits. For patients not on Aetna, we offer transparent cash-pay rates so you know exactly what you're paying. We can also provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
