Sports Physical Therapy in Winston-Salem, NC

Built for Athletes Who Can't Afford to Sit Out

Athletes come to us when pain keeps derailing their training and the usual fixes haven't held. We find the root cause, build a plan around your sport and goals, and get you back competing — one-on-one, every session.

Most Sports Injuries Come Back Because the Root Cause Never Gets Fixed

You Train Around It Until You Can't Train at All

You back off, the pain eases, you ramp back up — and it flares again. Without understanding what's driving it, you're stuck in the same cycle every season.

Your Competition Schedule Gets Derailed Again and Again

You push through as long as you can, back off when it flares, and never feel confident your body will hold up to peak training load.

Generic PT Gives You a Protocol That Has Nothing to Do With Your Sport

Most PT clinics aren't built for athletes. You get generic exercises and a timeline based on textbook healing, not a plan built around your sport, your training schedule, and the mechanics actually causing the problem.

Common Conditions We Treat

Knee Pain and Patellofemoral Issues that limit squatting, jumping, or lateral movement under load

Shoulder Pain and Rotator Cuff Problems that affect overhead pressing, throwing, or sport-specific movement patterns

Ankle Sprains and Chronic Instability that keep recurring and limit lateral cuts, pivots, and explosive movement

Hip Pain and Labral Issues that affect depth in squats, explosive hip hinge, and change-of-direction mechanics

Hamstring Strains and Proximal Tendinopathy that limit sprint speed, heavy deadlifts, or explosive lower body work

Low Back Pain Under Load that flares during lifting, throwing, or rotational movements in sport

Post-Surgical Rehab and Return-to-Sport Clearance for athletes who need a structured path back to full competition load

Why Athletes Choose Kinetic PR for Sports Rehab

Athletes come to KPR when recurring injuries keep disrupting their season, and keep coming back because the root-cause approach actually works.

I originally went to Levi after I tweaked my back deadlifting. This was my first experience with dry needling, learning better mechanics, stabilizing and improving how I warm up to prevent future injury. Levi not only fixes issues but teaches you how to avoid them. I am a bodybuilder so I’m constantly challenging my body and a lot of times pushing too far. Levi also helped me very quickly recover from bicep tendinitis by teaching me how to work through it as it is an injury that requires movement. My latest visit with Levi was for my hip that I irritated sprinting. Once again he quickly had me on a plan to recovery armed with more knowledge and now I can run and sprint with no issues. He’s a genius at what he does plus a super nice guy!!!!

I started doing PT with Lauren due to some pain I’d been having in my shoulder and neck area. Lauren helped to address the initial injury, get me out of pain, and on the way to strengthening those areas so that it doesn’t happen again. I’d been having this pain sporadically for years and in roughly six weeks it is a night and day difference. Lauren also noticed that I had some mobility issues with my hips when squatting and in just a few sessions I’ve seen some some dramatic increase in range of motion and I no longer feel the pinching sensation when I’m in the bottom of a squat. I could not recommend KPR and Lauren enough if you are looking to get pain free and stay active.

Levi is the best PT I have ever been to. Besides being extremely knowledgable, he really understands the body from an exercise/performance mindset. I had bicep tendonitis and through dry needling, body work and easy to do exercises to do at home I was pain free in a minimal amount time. Highly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about sports physical therapy and return-to-sport care at KPR.

Do I need to stop my sport while going through PT?

Not necessarily. We adjust your training load so you can stay as active as possible while we address the root cause. Most athletes keep training throughout their care — they just do it with smarter loads and mechanics that don't keep feeding the problem.

How long does sports physical therapy usually take?

It depends on the injury, how long it's been going on, and what you're trying to get back to. After your first session, we'll give you a realistic timeline and adjust as you respond to treatment. Most athletes see meaningful progress within the first few weeks of addressing mechanics and loading.

Do you work with both competitive athletes and recreational players?

Yes. We work with CrossFit competitors, strength athletes, team sport players, weekend warriors, and everyone in between. The approach is the same: find the root cause, fix the mechanics, and build you back to the level you want to compete at.

What does return-to-sport testing involve?

Return-to-sport testing at KPR involves standardized movement and strength assessments that measure whether your body is ready to handle full sport demands. It gives us objective data to guide progression and helps you return with confidence rather than guesswork. For runners, we also offer standalone running gait analysis.

Does insurance cover sports physical therapy at KPR?

We are in-network with Aetna, and HSA and FSA payments are accepted for all visits. For patients not on Aetna, we offer transparent cash-pay rates so you know exactly what you're paying. We can also provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
